Microsoft Fabric consultancy - UK

A Microsoft Fabric consultancy that keeps your data estate honest

We help UK businesses design, build and run Microsoft Fabric - the lakehouse, the semantic models, the Power BI on top - so you get one trusted data platform instead of another silo.

What Microsoft Fabric is - and isn't

Microsoft Fabric is Microsoft's unified analytics platform. It brings the lakehouse (OneLake), data engineering, real-time analytics, data warehousing and Power BI into a single SaaS product with one billing model. That's the pitch. In practice, Fabric is genuinely useful - but only when it's designed properly. Left to grow organically it can become as messy as the estate it was meant to replace.

Our job as a Fabric consultancy is to make sure that doesn't happen. We design the lakehouse, agree the semantic layer, connect the sources, and get reporting live on top - with governance and cost controls built in from day one.

Where we help

Lakehouse design

OneLake, Delta tables and medallion architecture set up in a way that scales without a data-engineering team of ten.

Data engineering

Pipelines, dataflows and notebooks to bring finance, CRM, operations and third-party sources into one governed platform.

Semantic models

Reusable semantic models so Power BI, Excel and Copilot all agree on what a customer, a sale or a KPI actually means.

Power BI on Fabric

Reports and dashboards built on Fabric datasets - fast, governed and easy to extend.

Capacity sizing

Right-sized F-SKU capacity and cost monitoring so Fabric pays back without runaway spend.

Governance and security

Workspaces, roles, sensitivity labels and lineage - the boring stuff that stops Fabric turning into a sprawl.

When Fabric is the right answer

  • You have multiple source systems and different teams building their own version of the truth.
  • You're already on Power BI Premium and hitting its limits, or paying for capacity you don't fully use.
  • You want AI and Copilot working over your business data - and you need a governed layer for it to sit on.
  • You're maintaining a patchwork of SQL warehouses, dataflows and exports and want one platform to replace them.

And when it isn't: if you're a smaller team with a handful of sources and modest data volumes, straight Power BI is usually plenty. We'll say so.

How an engagement runs

  • Discovery. Data sources, users, reporting needs, capacity sizing and a target architecture.
  • Foundations. OneLake, workspaces, security, naming conventions and the medallion structure to build into.
  • Ingest and model. Pipelines from your core systems into bronze, cleaned into silver, shaped into gold with a semantic layer on top.
  • Reporting. Power BI reports and dashboards built on the governed model, plus Copilot-ready datasets where useful.
  • Handover and care. Documentation, training and optional ongoing support so your team can extend it themselves.

Why UK businesses choose Axon

Fabric is central to our managed intelligence practice. That means we're not just building a lakehouse for its own sake - we're building the platform your Copilot, agents and future AI features will run on. Doing that badly is expensive; doing it once, properly, saves you the migration you'd otherwise be planning in eighteen months.

We're UK-based, work in plain English, and scope in fixed stages so you can stop, redirect or keep going with your eyes open.

Straight answers to the questions we get most

Do we need Fabric or is Power BI enough? Power BI on its own is often enough for smaller estates. Fabric becomes worthwhile when you have multiple sources, want one governed platform, or need engineering and reporting under the same roof.

How much does Fabric cost? Fabric is sold as capacity SKUs (F2 upwards). We size the right SKU during discovery so you're not paying for capacity you'll never use.

Can we migrate from Premium or a legacy warehouse? Yes. Most engagements involve some migration and we plan it in stages so reporting stays live throughout.
